It has been about one year since the COVID pandemic has caused many changes within our society. We were initially informed by our government the need to use face coverings because this would protect us from transmitting and spreading of the virus. I have over the course of this year through research discovered a great deal of scientific evidence that unfortunately goes against the government statements.
An article written by Shane Neilson, MD, PhD entitled The surgical mask is a bad fit for risk reduction in the CMAJ-JAMC available through the government website for the National Institutes of Health states, “masks came from the realization that surgical wounds need protection from droplets released in the breath of surgeons…when applied outside the operating room in an effort to control the spread of infectious epidemics…they had no impact on the epidemic curve. Dr. Fauci stated on March 8, 2020 during a CBS News 60 Minutes interview, “There’s no reason to be walking around with a mask…When you’re in the middle of an outbreak, wearing a mask might make people feel a little bit better and might even block a droplet, but it’s not providing the perfect protection that people think that it is.” The list of medical professionals that are warning of the dangers associated with the continued prolonged use of masks is extensive.
Upon further research regarding the use of prolonged face coverings I have learned that they can cause negative health conditions. According to Elisheva Rosner, MSN, RN-C of Morgan Stanley Childrens Hospital in the article entitled Adverse Effects of Prolonged Mask Use Among Healthcare Professionals during COVID-19 in the Journal of Infectious Disease and Epidemology issues include: headaches, rash, acne, skin breakdown, and impaired cognition were major problems. In an article purblished by Technocracy News, by retired neurologist Dr. Russell Blaylock wrote prolonged mask usage can have side effects that “can vary from headaches to increased airway resistance, carbon dioxide accumulation, to hypoxia, all the way to serious life-threatening complications.” According to an article in the Washington Examiner dentists are seeing inflammation in people’s gums that were always healthy before and cavities in people who also never had them before. These dentists are now labeling this issue “mask mouth”. There is an increase in mouth dryness because people tend to breathe through their mouth while wearing a mask which leads to dry mouth, a decrease in saliva and saliva is what is needed to fight bacteria and cleanse your teeth.
It is my opinion that everyone must have the choice to live their life in a way that is most beneficial to them. For that reason if you feel you have a medical condition that would have an ill effect to your health from wearing a face covering you are not required to wear one while in my facility. I am here to help you in any way I can.
